Winning First Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Competition in 1997 launched Spyros Mourikis’ international career, leading to collaborations with prestigious orchestras and performances in top concert halls worldwide.
He studied clarinet at the Athens Conservatoire and Conservatoire de Paris, and serves as principal clarinetist for the Athens State Orchestra, MusicAeterna, and Utopia Orchestra. He teaches at the Athens Conservatoire and gives masterclasses internationally.

Biography
Winning First Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Competition in Denmark in 1997 marked a pivotal step for Spyros Mourikis, earning him recognition both in Greece and internationally. Since then, he has collaborated with renowned orchestras and conductors and performed in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls.
After his early years in Corfu, Spyros Mourikis studied clarinet at the Athens Conservatoire under Charalambos Farantatos and later in Paris with Michel Arrignon at the Conservatoire de Paris. He has served as principal clarinetist for the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT, the Orchestra of Colours, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Today, he holds the same position with the Athens State Orchestra and is a guest principal clarinetist with MusicAeterna and the Utopia Orchestra. He also teaches clarinet at the Athens Conservatoire and frequently gives masterclasses at various academies and institutions abroad, in addition to serving on juries for international competitions.
His discography already includes many of the most significant works in the clarinet repertoire.
