Christophor Miroshnikov

An ECHO “Rising Star” and prizewinner at international competitions, cellist Christophor Miroshnikov has graced prestigious stages such as Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Vienna’s Konzerthaus, and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. As a soloist, he has performed with chamber and symphony orchestras across Europe, North and South America, and Asia, collaborating with ensembles like the Tokyo and Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestras, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, and the Athens and Thessaloniki State Orchestras.  

Mr. Miroshnikov has worked under the baton of esteemed conductors, including Vladimir Fedoseyev, Enrique Bátiz, Christopher Warren-Green, Nanse Gum, Alondra de la Parra, Jed Gaylin, and Johann Goritsky. An active participant in major music festivals across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, he continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his artistry and musical depth.

Biography

Winner of top prizes at international competitions and named a 2004 ECHO “Rising Star,” cellist Christophor Miroshnikov has performed in prestigious European venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, Symphony Hall in Birmingham, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, the Cologne Philharmonie, and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.

Praised for his “musical sensitivity and craftsmanship,” Mr. Miroshnikov has appeared as a soloist with chamber and symphony orchestras across Europe, North and South America, and Asia. In Japan, he has performed with the Tokyo and Nagoya Philharmonic orchestras under Maestro Fedoseyev’s baton and has collaborated with Maestro Fedoseyev again in Moscow and on a UK tour with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra.

Christophor has participated in major music festivals, including the Festival of Vladimir Spivakov in Colmar, France, and the Music Isle Festival in Jeju, South Korea. Since 2004, he has been a regular guest at the Aegina International Music Festival. He has given master classes at the Yuri Bashmet Academy in Belarus, as well as in the United States, Mexico, France, and other countries. He has worked with renowned conductors such as Enrique Batiz, Christopher Warren-Green, Nanse Gum, Alondra de la Parra, Jed Gaylin, and Johann Goritsky, among others.

Miroshnikov has a strong interest in 20th-century music, being the first to perform several works by Greek, Russian, and American composers, including M. Zelenaya, L. Kanaris, N. Piperis, D. Arrivas, and L. Auerbach. He has also participated in concerts and recordings of these contemporary compositions.

At the age of 15, he entered the Tchaikovsky Academy Music College, studying under Gayane Mndoyan, and a year later became the youngest prizewinner at the 14th Young Artists International Competition in Hungary. He continued his education with Natalia Shakhovskaya at the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory, where he studied for seven years until graduation. In 2000, he earned his Artist Diploma from Oberlin Conservatory in the United States under Prof. Andor Toth.

In addition to his active performing career, Christophor teaches at the “Eratio” Conservatory of Music in Athens, where he resides, and serves as the head of the Muse Classics International Music Competition in Athens. He plays two cellos: one made by Francesco Guadagnini in 1905 and another crafted in 2023 by young Cremonese luthier Lucas Curraz.
